The Fourth Annual John A Searles Legacy Day
Every year, in honor and memory of our SILK2 founder John A. Searles II, the company joins forces with stylists, make-up artists, friends and family to give back to the community. Women from shelters, and other transitional facilities are invited to a Makeover Day at SILK2 corporate offices in Atlanta.
Mr. Searles was a passionate business man and an incredible salesman who always believed that giving was the catalyst for everything. This event called the John A. Searles II Legacy Day is designed to reflect on and commemorate his spirit of giving. Here are a few things my family has to say about that.
"John started this company by giving away product to form great relationships with his customers. Sometimes he gave away a little too much product.(HaHa). He couldn't help it, it's the way we were raised." -Lois Searles, SILK2 VP
"My Father prefaced every lesson with 2 things: gratitude and giving. Some form of showing gratitude or giving back will always happen. It's who we are as people and as a company " - John A. Searles III Owner/President.
The 4th Annual John A. Searles II Legacy day celebration held on Sunday, September 17th was a great success. Every year brings new faces of women who begin the day curious about what to expect. The ladies start the day with breakfast or lunch depending on when they arrive, followed by a brief healthy hair consultation with a professional SILK2 stylist. They then enjoy a wonderful SILK2 shampoo followed by styling using only the finest products provided by SILK2. After hair services they move on to selecting shoes and clothes that have been donated by customers, friends and family. Many of the shoes are donated by The 40 Girls and Some Shoes non-profit organization. After fitting and trying on clothes, the ladies head to the make-up room where a group of my make-up artist friends finish up the day. With an onsite salon and plenty room for a shoe rack, clothes closet and make-up studio, the SILK2 office was filled with smiles, chatter, selfies, and sometimes tears of joy and appreciation.
"John would have been so proud of continuing his Legacy of giving and gratitude." -Cyra Searles
The day serves as an incredible confidence booster, not only for the women serviced, but also the stylists and make-up artists who perform the magic that helps make Legacy Day an incredible success. We want to thank all of you who joined us as well as those of you who plan to join us in the future. Look to hear more about Legacy Day in September 2018.
Hope we made you proud Daddy. Happy Birthday!
